Cummins X15N natural gas engine

USAPeterbilt Motors Company, a subsidiary of Paccar based in Denton, Texas, has announced that it is now offering its heavy-duty trucks with the latest natural gas engine, the ‘X15N’, from Cummins Inc of Columbus, Indiana.

The manufacturer has said that its Model 579, 567, and 520 truck ranges may now be specified with the new Cummins engine, with start of production scheduled for the third quarter of this year. Replacing the ‘ISX12N’, the X15N will offer up to 500 horsepower and 1,850 lb-ft of torque. Compared to its predecessor, the X15N boasts a fuel economy improvement of up to 10%. Moreover, Peterbilt says the X15N will ensure that trucks comply with upcoming 2024/2027 regulations from the Environmental Protection Agency and the California Air Resources Board.
