Germany – On 1 April, J M Voith SE & Co KG (“Voith”) of Heidenheim an der Brenz, Baden-Württemberg established a new company which will be dedicated to developing, manufacturing, and commercialising hydrogen storage systems for heavy-duty vehicles.

Voith HySTech GmbH is based at the group’s site in Garching in the state of Bavaria, where hydrogen storage tanks made from carbon composites are currently being made. The group’s hydrogen storage business developed from the combination of competencies from its ‘Turbo’ and ‘Paper’ divisions, as well as the ‘Voith Composites’ subdivision. By creating a new subsidiary company, Voith aims to serve its heavy-duty OEM customers “in a targeted manner”.
