Einride opens its first HGV charging station in the USA

Einride Smartcharging station in Los Angeles, California, USA

USA / Sweden – In collaboration with infrastructure partner Voltera*, Swedish freight mobility company, Einride AB**, has opened its first Smartcharger Station for heavy electric vehicles in the USA, in Los Angeles (Lynwood), California. The facility houses 65 DC 180kW fast chargers with a capacity to charge 200 electric HGVs a day. Einride claims that this is the largest electric HGV charging station in North America. Currently, the site only caters to Einride-connected customers (Einride Saga***).

In a written response from Einride, T&BB learned that Voltera provided the charging infrastructure and through this collaboration, the Lynwood site received some public funding via a Southern California Edison Make Ready Grant. At this time, Einride client Maersk has been utilising the Lynwood Smartcharger Site, as part of the partnership’s nationwide rollout. Additional customers will be announced in the coming months.
