Brazil - Suspensys Sistemas Automotivos Ltda (Suspensys) of Caxais do Sul – a subsidiary of Randoncorp* - is investing BRA150 million (USD 30 million) in building a new factory in the city of Mogi-Guaçu, in the state of São Paulo. Construction, which began last December using Manufacturing 4.0 technology, is expected to be completed by the end of the year, with start of operations scheduled for the first quarter of 2025 to supply components to the truck and bus chassis produced by Mercedes-Benz do Brasil.
According to Ricardo Escoboza, COO of Randoncorp's Auto Parts vertical, the new industrial unit is to start operations by manufacturing front axles, an item added at the end of 2023 to Suspensys’ growing portfolio of suspension, axle and electric drive systems for commercial vehicles. Late last year, Suspensys and Mercedes-Benz reached an agreement, in which Suspensys would become the supplier of these front axles for Mercedes trucks, and it is this agreement that led Suspensys to construct a new facility, dedicated exclusively to supply of these and other components to this business with Mercedes-Benz. Suspensys says it has a 10-year supply agreement with Mercedes-Benz, which includes all of supply of all Mercedes-Benz do Brazil’s front axles.
