Germany – Multinational tech firm Siemens AG of Munich, Bavaria has announced that its Smart Infrastructure division successfully tested its prototype megawatt charging system, which delivered a 1MW charge for the first time while connected to a battery electric truck.

Siemens says that the megawatt charger was tested during a pilot with a “well-established OEM”. The charger was hooked up to a prototype e-truck and successfully delivered a 1-MW charge while in use. With a charger capable of consistently delivering a megawatt of energy, a typical truck could be recharged from 20% to 80% capacity in half an hour, according to Siemens.
