Brazil / China / UK / Netherlands - Raízen Power*, a brand dedicated to renewable electrical energy solutions of Raízen Energia SA of São Paulo, São Paulo State, Brazil and electric vehicle builder, BYD Ltd of Shenzhen, China in February announced a strategic partnership to accelerate sustainable electric mobility in Brazil. The partnership was celebrated at an event in the city of Shenzhen, China, and was attended by executives from Raízen Power, BYD and Anglo Dutch Group, Shell Plc.

The agreement between the companies provides for a series of initiatives, including the construction of electric charging hubs with the Shell Recharge solution in eight Brazilian state capital cities of São Paulo (SP), Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Belo Horizonte (MG), Brasília (DF), Curitiba (PR), Florianópolis (SC), Salvador (BA) and Belém (PA) over the next three years starting this year (2024). Whilst the target market is for cars and light duty vehicles, the initiative is expected to encourage public charging facilities for buses, coaches and trucks – see current charging infrastructure progress in Brazil for commercial electric vehicles below.
