USAVolvo Group North America Inc of Greensboro, North Carolina has announced that it is now exclusively using HVO or “sustainable diesel” as a fuel to move its completed Class 8 vehicles off the production line in order to reduce carbon emissions.

The company has rolled out the policy of fuelling finished trucks with HVO at its manufacturing facility in Dublin, Virginia, also known as the New River Valley Assembly Operations. Hydrotreated vegetable oil is a renewable fuel made from lipids which has similar chemical and physical properties to diesel derived from crude oil. It can be made from waste vegetable oils and animal fats, making its production highly sustainable.
