UK / China – Last month in London, BYD Co Ltd of Shenzhen, China unveiled its new double-decker low-floor electric bus, the 10.9-metre BYD BD11. Set to enter into service in London later this year, the 90-passenger capacity vehicle is powered by two 150kW electric motors, offering up to 600Nm torque. Debuting a new generation double-decker chassis, the B11 has a 532-kWh blade battery pack, providing up to 350 km of range on a single charge. Furthermore, the blade battery pack integrated into the chassis allows for fast charging, with a full recharge taking just two hours.

Safety has been key as the vehicle is equipped with a range of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including Advanced Emergency Braking System (AEBS), Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM), Forward Collision Warning (FCW) and Intelligent Speed Assistance (ISA). For the passengers, the bus is equipped with USB charging ports, built-in WIFI and air conditioning.
