Schmitz acquires majority stake in Spanish cold chain monitoring firm

Schmitz and AGS executives celebrate acquisition

Germany / Spain – Semi-trailer manufacturer Schmitz Cargobull AG of Horstmar, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany has announced its acquisition of a majority stake in telematics firm Atlantic Global System (AGS), with the aim of setting up data sharing between the two companies’ respective platforms.

AGS, based in Almería, Spain, is a manufacturer of telematics hardware for monitoring the “cold chain” (i.e., refrigerated transport). According to Schmitz, AGS telematics are used in the vast majority of the top 50 companies involved in temperature-controlled goods transportation in Spain.
