Solaris marks 25th anniversary of Urbino and produces 25,000th model

Solaris celebrates 25,000 unit milestone for its Urbino brand

Poland – At the end of May, Solaris Bus & Coach s. z o.o. of Bolechowo, Poland celebrated two milestones: it marked the 25th anniversary since the launch of the ‘Urbino’ brand of city buses; and it produced the 25,000th Urbino model.

The first Urbino was unveiled on 26 May 1999 at the Poznań Motor Show. Since then, over 25,000 units have rolled off the production line at the Bolechowo factory. These buses feature a range of drivelines, including diesel, hybrid, natural gas, battery electric, and fuel cell electric. Nowadays, the overall production mix is tilted heavily towards zero-emission tailpipe vehicles: Solaris claims that over 80% of the vehicles built in Bolechowo last year were low- or zero-emission.
