Hyundai plans to produce Staria EV minibus in Europe from 2026

Hyundai's Staria van

Czech Republic / South Korea - Hyundai Motor Company of Gunsan, Seoul, South Korea has announced it plans to begin production of battery-powered versions of its Staria minibus in Europe in early 2026; possibly at its site car factory in Nošovice, Czech Republic – although not plant has been mentioned at present.

This comes after it had unveiled earlier this year the ST1 (Service Type 1) - a new battery electric vehicle (BEV) cab-chassis it developed for light commercial vehicles – targeting mainly the general-purpose local delivery market in South Korea. The Staria EV is to be available with a NCM (lithium, nickel, cobalt, manganese) 84-kilowatt (kW) battery pack – producing 10% more power than those fitted to the ST1. The Staria is to be assembled at HMC’s Ulsan plant in South Korea, which is currently being expanded to include a new high-voltage battery production line.
