Isuzu begins sales of battery-powered city buses

Isuzu Erga EV

Japan - Isuzu Motors Ltd, headquartered in Yokohama in Japan’s Kanagawa prefecture, launched the first of a planned series of battery-powered low-entry flat-floor city buses on the Japanese market last month, which are based on a short wheelbase version of its Erga bus chassis.

The zero-emissions “Erga EV” was first unveiled at the Japan Mobility Show last October, in response to the Japanese government’s “Green Growth Strategy Through Achieving Carbon Neutrality in 2050” campaign which called on bus operators to work toward decarbonization. Isuzu claims the Erga EV is the first battery-powered city bus available in Japan with a fully flat-floor design.
