Designwerk launches new mobile fast charger

MDC 88-920

Germany / Switzerland – At this past Power2Drive Expo in Munich from June 19 to 21, Designwerk Technologies AG, an engineering company in Winterthur, Switzerland, which develops and sells electromobility products and engineering services, launched a new mobile DC fast charger (MDC 88-920) for the Electric Commercial Vehicle (CV) market. Designed as part of a depot-based solution package, these DC fast chargers are suited for long-distance electric HGVs, with an output of 84 kilowatts, the MDC 88-920 can charge an electric truck with a 500kWh battery pack from 10% to 80% in four hours. Electric HGVs with a 1000kWh battery pack can charge fully in 10 hours.

Furthermore, the MDC 88-920 can charge two vehicles simultaneously at 42kW each, supporting CCS Type 1 and 2, CHAdeMO, and the Chinese GB/T standard charging points. Due to the use of new-generation SiC semiconductors and a new air cooling system, the company has been able to produce a compact product whilst maintaining a high power density. The order books are now open for the MDC 88-920 chargers, which will be manufactured in Winterthur, Switzerland later this year.
