Designed as part of a depot-based solution package, these DC fast chargers (MDC 88-920) are suited for long-distance electric HGVs. With an output of 84 kilowatts, the MDC 88-920 can charge an electric truck with a 500kWh battery pack from 10% to 80% in four hours. Electric HGVs with a 1000kWh battery pack can be fully charged in 10 hours.
This megawatt charging container was unveiled at the company’s headquarters in Winterthur late last month and features two CCS Charging points, each with an output of 420 kilowatts, making a total power capacity of 840kWs.
The new electric lowliner tractor unit is built on a Volvo FH based chassis and fitted with a 500 kilowatt (680 hp) electric motor, single speed transmission and a battery capacity with 380 kilowatt hours giving the vehicle a range of 280km.
Volvo Group has signed definitive agreements to acquire 60% of Designwerk Technologies AG, an engineering company in Winterthur, Switzerland which develops and sells electromobility products and engineering services.
