Scottish government awards GBP41.7m to Zenobē-led consortium of bus operators

UK – In late July, the Scottish government announced that it has awarded GBP41.7m to a consortium of bus and coach operators led by Zenobē Energy Ltd towards the acquisition of battery electric buses and charging infrastructure – adding up to more than 250 new electric buses in Scotland by 2026.

Eight operators will benefit from the success of a bid made by charging-as-a-service firm Zenobē, including major fleets such as Stagecoach and McGill’s Buses.1 The 250-plus extra buses which will be added to the national fleet by 2026 will bring the proportion of electric buses on Scotland’s roads to 40% of the total number. The recipients of the funding will also invest in charging infrastructure, which Zenobē says will be accessible to other operators of buses and coaches as well as heavy goods vehicles.
