Milence successfully demonstrates 1.1 megawatt charging for trucks

Power Electronics megawatt charger demonstrated on Mercedes truck

NetherlandsMilence BV, the truck charging joint venture (between Daimler Truck, Traton, and Volvo) based in Amsterdam, Netherlands, announced in July that it successfully recharged a truck for the first time using a Megawatt Charging System (MCS).

Using a 1.1 MW charger developed by Power Electronics SL, Milence conducted the test on a prototype Mercedes-Benz ‘eActros 600’. Milence claims that, with MCS capable of delivering 1.4 MW (1,500 Amps and 1,000 volts), drivers could reduce the time it takes to recharge their trucks by around 90%, down to about thirty minutes.
