USACummins Inc, the U.S. Department of Energy, and Venture Logistics of Indianapolis, Indiana are testing wireless charging with heavy trucks using technology developed by WAVE1 LLC, a subsidiary of Ideanomics based in Salt Lake City, Utah.

At a Venture Logistics facility in the Midwest, the project partners will test a 500-kW charging system with two Class 8 battery electric trucks to see what benefits wireless charging could bring to the transportation of goods. The project is supported by a USD8.4m grant provided by the Department of Energy.
