Air Products to build hydrogen refuelling network across Europe

Netherlands / USA – American industrial gases company Air Products & Chemicals Inc* announced plans to build a hydrogen refuelling network across Europe, specifically around the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T). The company plans on rolling out a similar network across California, aiding in the hydrogen ecosystem. Air Products will produce and supply the hydrogen to the various stations which will be aided by the new hydrogen liquefaction plant currently being built in Rotterdam in the Netherlands. Once operational, this will double Europe’s total liquid hydrogen supply.

The commercial multi-modal hydrogen refuelling stations will be equipped to service the heavy-duty vehicle market such as commercial and municipal trucks as well as hydrogen-powered coaches. This requires significant investment in fuelling technology, hydrogen storage and multiple pressure fuelling options. Each high-capacity station will be able to refuel 200 heavy-duty trucks per day. This is a strategic move by the company (the largest supplier of hydrogen in the world) which already operates six hydrogen refuelling stations in Southern California.
