Australia / UK – Seeing Machines Ltd of Canberra, Australia has announced that its driver monitoring system, ‘Guardian’, has been homologated for its first commercial vehicle customer, Wrightbus Ltd of Ballymena, UK.
Seeing Machines’ technology, which tracks the driver’s face and behaviour to identify and react to distraction or drowsiness, was tested and certified successfully for use in the Northern Irish manufacturer’s buses. The Australian tech firm claims it has set an important milestone for compliance with the EU’s General Safety Regulation, which requires new vehicles to be installed with driver monitoring technology.
