BYD electric bus

South Africa / China - BYD Co Ltd of Shenzhen, China, has signed a supply agreement with South African bus operator Golden Arrow, to deliver 120 electric buses. This will be the country’s first electric bus fleet, marking the first step in transforming its public transportation to zero-emissions. The first batch of electric buses will be delivered to Cape Town in Q4 2024, with full delivery by the end of 2025. Equipped with lithium-ion batteries, the low floor 12.5-metre electric buses have a range of 200kms on a single charge, thanks to the 300-kWh battery pack, which takes three hours to charge fully. They have space for 65 passengers and will go into operation in Cape Town. The monetary value of the deal has not been disclosed.
