USA – In August, Volvo Group North America Inc of Greensboro, North Carolina acquired the cab structures business and operations owned by Commercial Vehicle Group (CVG) of New Albany, Ohio, bringing production of subsidiary Mack Trucks’ cabs in-house.

Volvo NA will take over CVG’s ‘Cab Structures’ business, including its assembly plant in Kings Mountain, North Carolina – which is where CVG assembles medium- and heavy-duty cabs for Mack Trucks – for approximately USD40m. Around 230 CVG employees will transfer to Volvo NA as part of the acquisition deal. Swedish parent company AB Volvo says the purchase is “part of a comprehensive effort to increase the strength and flexibility of the Group’s industrial footprint and supply chain in the region.”
