USA  – As it approaches its 100th anniversary, American school bus manufacturer, Blue Bird Corp (NASDAQ ticker: BLBD), based in Macon, Georgia announced that it has delivered its 2000th electric school bus, marking a significant milestone for the company. The bus in question was delivered to the Clark County School District (CCSD) in Nevada. The electric bus features a PowerDrive 7000 system by Accelera (Cummins) and a new generation battery providing a range of 193 kms (120 miles) on a single charge. According to the CCSD, these buses are projected to cut down over 21,000 metric tons of carbon emissions annually by replacing diesel-powered buses.

Blue Bird’s electric school buses have already driven over eight million kms (5 million miles) across 41 U.S. states and four Canadian provinces. The company is also expanding its production capabilities with significant investment in its main electric school bus facility in Fort Valley, Georgia. The company will also be hoping to capitalise on the significant State and Federal zero-emission school bus funding packages, especially in California and New York.
