BMZ starts construction of new production facility in Macedonia

Macedonia / Germany –  Last month BMZ Germany GMBH, a subsidiary of the BMZ Group, a battery manufacturer for commercial vehicles, based in Karlstein am Main, Bavaria, Germany, announced that construction of its new EUR 65 million lithium-ion battery plant in North Macedonia has begun. The facility is being built in the technological-industrial development zone near Skopje and represents a significant investment, making it the company’s fifth global factory. The plant is expected to be completed by May 2025 and will create up to 1,000 new jobs once fully operational. This move is part of BMZ’s broader strategy to expand its production capacity in Europe, with the facility being equipped with 40 production lines. BMZ stated that they settled on this location in North Macedonia for various reasons, including its “strategic location in Europe, its investor-friendly policies and the enormous growth opportunities for BMZ.”
