USAMullen Automotive Inc, a commercial vehicle manufacturer based in Brea, California, has announced that it will take “immediate steps” to reduce its overall monthly spending by USD5.5m, laying off staff and shutting down some planned and ongoing projects.

The company says it will reduce the number of employees across multiple sites by 20% overall as part of its cost-cutting measures. It has also cancelled development of the ‘Mullen Five’, a sports utility vehicle aimed at the passenger car market. From now on, the company will focus on its commercial vehicle products, including the ‘Mullen One’ van, ‘Mullen Three’ light truck, and medium-duty trucks produced by subsidiary Bollinger Motors.
