Brazil starting to embrace electric trucks and buses - VWCO leads with e-truck sales up by 58.8% in the first nine months

Brazil - Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus Ltda (VWCO) of Resende, Rio de Janeiro, was the market leader in truck sales in Brazil in the first nine months of the year. According to data from the National Federation of Automotive Vehicle Distribution (Fenabrave), a total of 369 electric trucks (all brands) were registered, of which VWCO accounted for 217 units (116 x 11-ton e-Delivery and 101 x 14-ton e-Delivery) or 58.8% market share, an increase of 57.7% compared with 234 units in the same period last year. JAC, placed second with sales of 103 vehicles (27.9%) and Volvo, with 15 units and a 4.0% market share.

Ricardo Alouche, vice president of sales, marketing and services at VWCO remarked: “We are seeing an increase in companies' interest in electric trucks. Although sales volume is still low, there are clear signs of improvement.”
