USA – Hyzon Motors Inc, a manufacturer of hydrogen-powered commercial vehicles based in Rochester, New York, has officially begun the production of its 200kW single-stack fuel cell system at its Bolingbrook factory in Illinois. This marks a significant step for the company, enabling full-scale manufacturing of up to 700 units annually. The single stack fuel cell is aimed at the heavy-duty CV market, including refuse vehicles. The new 200kW system is a major improvement over previous versions, offering 20% more range per kilogram of hydrogen compared with the 120kW model and reducing both volume and weight by approximately 30%. This innovation also cuts costs by 25%, according to the company. Production at the Bolingbrook plant will support the decarbonisation of the North American commercial vehicle industry. The company anticipates obtaining ISO 9001 certification for its design and manufacturing processes by Q4 2024, ensuring compliance with globally recognized quality management standards.
