Australia / ChinaVolgren Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of Marcopolo based in Dandenong, Victoria, Australia, has launched a new bus built on a battery electric chassis supplied by Chinese manufacturer, Zhengzhou Yutong Group Co Ltd (“Yutong”).

The new bus is a Volgren ‘Optimus’ model mounted on the ‘E12’ chassis from Yutong. The aluminium body is built and installed locally in Victoria on chassis shipped from China.

Carrying up to seventy-one passengers, the bus offers a range of up to 360 kilometres with an installed capacity of 350 kilowatt-hours. Volgren says it will offer upgraded battery capacities in the future (399 kWh and 422 kWh). It also said that it will provide pantograph-compatible models.
