Volvo NA upgrades truck maintenance services with AI

USA – At the American Trucking Association’s 2024 Management Conference & Exhibition, held between 12-15 October in Nashville, Tennessee, Volvo Group North America Inc of Greensboro, North Carolina announced it is upgrading its predictive maintenance service to be more “adaptive” by using artificial intelligence to monitor and assess truck health.

As part of its ‘Blue Service Contract’, offered to North American customers, Volvo NA is now using an adaptive maintenance system which dynamically changes service intervals based on the performance and application of the truck. Analysing parameters such as fuel consumption, idle time, and oil samples, the AI-based system adjusts the date of the next vehicle checkup. If the truck is being used more often and/or in more demanding operations, the system will automatically schedule more frequent service intervals to keep the vehicle in good working condition.
