Michelin to close down two French plants by early 2026

Michelin plant in Vannes, France

France – Tyre manufacturer Michelin Group of Clermont-Ferrand, France has announced it will shut down two of its domestic plants by early 2026, citing inflation, rising energy prices, and Asian competition as reasons behind the decision.

Two of its French plants – one in Cholet, the other in Vannes – will see a gradual winding down of production before their eventual closure by 2026 at the latest. These sites have faced “severe economic difficulties for several years”, according to Michelin.
