USA / Canada –  After approving the USD 248 million merger earlier this year between electric drivetrain components supplier, Exro Technologies Inc of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and Los Angeles retrofit firm, SEA Electric Holdings Pty Ltd, the companies have announced a pilot project. This will entail integrating Exro’s Coil Driver inverter technology with SEA Electric’s 5e electric drive system to enhance the performance and cost-efficiency of electric propulsion systems for commercial vehicles. This product will be piloted on a class 5 battery-electric Hino truck. This is another step towards the commercialisation of a cost-effective powertrain that can help bring EV cost parity with Internal Combustion Engines (ICE). According to Exro, its Coil Driver technology enables adaptive motor control, increasing vehicle efficiency and reducing the need for complex mechanical gearing.
