USA – At the end of October, Torc Robotics Inc of Blacksburg, Virginia announced that it successfully validated a driverless truck following on-road testing, marking a crucial step towards commercialisation of its self-driving technology.

Torc says it integrated its autonomous driving software with a ‘Freightliner Cascadia’ truck supplied by parent company Daimler Truck North America and put it on a “multi-lane closed-course environment”. Travelling at up to 65 miles per hour, the truck was validated on the road without a human in the driver’s seat.
