USA / Mexico – Daimler Truck North America LLC (DTNA) of Portland, Oregon announced that its fifth-generation Freightliner Cascadia will go into series production in mid-2025 in its U.S. (Cleveland, North Carolina) and Mexican (Santiago Tianguistenco) plants. According to John O'Leary, President and CEO of DTNA, this revamped Class 8 truck focuses on enhanced safety, efficiency, and profitability, incorporating several advanced features based on customer feedback. Whilst the spec sheet has not been published yet, this is what we do know.
The truck will initially be offered with Detroit DD13 and DD15 engines offering up to 505 hp and 1,850 lb-ft / 2508 Nm of torque. In 2026 the Cummins X15 diesel and X15N natural gas engines will be added as options, with ratings from 400 to 605 hp and torque up to 2,050 lb-ft / 2779 Nm. The improved aerodynamics help improve fuel efficiency by up to 1.9% better than prior models through redesigned bumpers, hood and wind deflectors.
