Allison plans investment of USD100m+ in Chennai plant to boost automatic transmission output to meet global demand

India / USA - Allison Transmission Holdings Inc of Indianapolis, Indiana, USA, a manufacturer of medium- and heavy-duty fully automatic transmissions for on highway trucks and buses has announced plans to expand its manufacturing capability at Allison Transmission India Pvt Ltd* in Chennai, India, to support increasing global demand for Allison fully automatic transmissions.
This multi-year investment, said to exceed USD100m, aims to double the current manufacturing footprint. Allison said some funds for this expansion were with the support of an MOU with Guidance Tamil Nadu, the inward investment promotion agency of the Government of Tamil Nadu.
