India’s government launches USD1.3bn funding budget to aid transition to electric vehicles

India – September 29, 2024, was the date that India’s Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) announced the Prime Minister's Electric Drive Revolution in Innovative Vehicle Enhancement scheme (PM E-DRIVE) is to be officially implemented between October 1, 2024 and March 31, 2026.

The scheme aims to promote the adoption of a full range of electric vehicles (EVs) by providing financial incentives and subsidies for a variety of passenger electric and commercial electric vehicles. It also focuses on developing charging infrastructure to support the growing number of EVs on India’s roads.
