USA –  Hexagon Agility LLC, a producer of natural gas fuel systems for trucks based in Costa Mesa, California, announced that it has received orders totalling USD 4.3 million for renewable natural gas (RNG) and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fuel storage systems to be used in trucks using the new Cummins X15N natural gas engine. Hexagon Agility and Cummins have collaborated on integrating these RNG and CNG fuel systems. The X15N natural gas engine is specifically designed for heavy-duty Class 8 trucks, offering a powerful alternative to diesel engines while significantly reducing emissions. RNG, derived from organic waste such as agricultural or landfill materials, can significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions. These fuel storage systems, tailored for the specific needs of class 8 trucks, allow the fleet to maintain efficiency while reducing their carbon footprint.

The X15N provides up to 500 horsepower and 1850 lb.-ft of torque, making it competitive with diesel engines for long-haul applications. It is also compliant with EPA and CARB emissions regulations set to take effect in 2024 and 2027. In a statement, Hexagon Agility said that this partnership is seen as a game-changer, tripling the market addressable by natural gas-powered trucks in the coming years and supporting the shift toward more sustainable heavy-duty transportation.
