Blue Bird delivers its first propane-powered school bus to Philadelphia

Blue Bird Propane-Powered Vision

USA  – American school bus manufacturer, Blue Bird Corp (NASDAQ ticker: BLBD), based in Macon, Georgia has delivered its first fleet of propane-powered school buses to the School District of Pennsylvania. The 38 Vision propane-powered Type C school buses have 42 seats and can cover 300 miles (482 kms) on a single tank thanks to the 7.3-litre engine supplied by Ford Motor Company and integrated by the engineering firm, ROUSH CleanTech. According to Blue Bird, its “propane buses generate 96% fewer harmful emissions than the diesel counterparts, thereby protecting students, bus drivers and community health.” Furthermore, the company projects that the TCO of every school bus will be lower by USD 3,700 a year in fuel and maintenance costs, saving the school district a combined USD 2.1 million over 15 years. Since 2012 Blue Bird has deployed more than 20,000 propane-powered school buses.
