Hexagon Purus signs hydrogen storage tank supply agreement with New Flyer for 5th year in a row

Canada / Norway Hexagon Purus ASA of Oslo, Norway, announced that it has been selected for a fifth consecutive year, to supply hydrogen tanks to New Flyer Industries, based in Winnipeg, Canada for use in its Xcelsior CHARGE fuel cell (FC) transit buses. These hydrogen storage tanks are produced at the Hexagon Purus facility in Westminster, Maryland. The deal is worth USD 6.3 million. This agreement will continue to help decarbonise the American public transport sector.

Hexagon’s Type 4 hydrogen cylinders store hydrogen at 350 bar and are designed specifically for use in buses. Additionally, the firm claims the tanks provide the Xcelsior with a range of up to 370 miles / 600km. Since 2020, Hexagon Purus has equipped over 200 New Flyer hydrogen buses.
