Giti Tire integrates RFID tags into its new generation of European TBR tyres

Giti RFID

Singapore / Germany – Global tyre manufacturer, Giti Tire Pte. Ltd of Singapore, through its subsidiary, GITI Tire Germany GmbH of Hanover, Germany has recently integrated RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) tags into its new generation truck and bus radial (TBR) tyres in Europe, marking a significant step toward digitising its tyre management services. The RFID tags are embedded into the sidewalls of its tyres, enabling comprehensive life-cycle monitoring and enhanced traceability. This technology will provide valuable data in terms of tyre health and will aid in predictive maintenance and fleet management services. Information gathered through these tags is processed via the Tyre Information Service (TIS) system, developed under the Global Data Service for Tyres and Automotive Components (GDSO*), a non-profit association which seeks to standardise and share tyre data.

The initiative includes products such as the Giti GSR237 EVO and Giti GDR675 EVO tyres and will expand to other lines like the Ecoroad. The use of RFID ensures accurate tracking, enhances operational efficiency and reduces human error in tyre management. This development also supports Giti’s sustainability efforts.
