Scania steps in to support struggling Northvolt

Northvolt Ett in Skellefteå, Sweden

SwedenScania AB, a commercial vehicle manufacturer and subsidiary of the Traton Group based in Södertälje, Sweden, has put feet on the ground to support battery cell production at a plant owned by Northvolt AB, according to a Reuters report.

Since November of last year, Scania has sent employees to the ‘Ett’ plant at Skellefteå in northern Sweden to assist with the ramp-up of cell production. Reuters was unable to determine exactly how many Scania staff were involved, but four Northvolt workers said they had seen them inside the factory on multiple occasions wearing visitor armbands. Scania confirmed the reports but declined to provide further comments.
