Hino settles US emissions lawsuit

Hino’s US-made trucks

USA / Japan – Japanese commercial vehicle manufacturer, Hino Motors Ltd, headquartered in Tokyo, announced that it has reached an agreement with the US Department of Justice (DOJ) to resolve the criminal investigation into the falsification of emissions and performance test data for diesel engines sold in the US market. Hino confirmed that it voluntarily disclosed the data rigging to the US authorities in March 2022.

Hino Motors and its US subsidiaries agreed in January to plead guilty to US federal government and California state charges of engaging in a criminal conspiracy to mislead regulators and consumers, violating environmental protection laws and endangering public health.
