First-generation Mercedes Sprinter (pre-facelift)
Germany – Mercedes-Benz Group AG of Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg is celebrating the thirtieth anniversary of its ‘Sprinter’ range of large-sized vans, sold with a diesel or a battery electric (‘eSprinter’) driveline.
The first generation of Sprinters was launched in the spring of 1995 as a successor to the ‘TN’ range. It offered what Mercedes calls a “unique combination” of features: a self-supporting body and high-traction rear-wheel drive; a modern chassis with independent front suspension and a powerful engine (up to 143 horsepower); and disc brakes, anti-lock braking, automatic brake differential, and height-adjustable three-point seat belts as standard. Since then, Mercedes has launched two more generations, the latest of which came out in 2019.
