Chile / Brazil - Mercedes-Benz do Brasil Ltda of Campinas, Brazil is conducting trials for the first time in Chile of its battery-powered electric bus chassis (the eO500U model equipped with the Caio eMillennium body). This trial is being conducted in partnership with Comercial Kaufmann, the local representative of the Mercedes-Benz brand in Santiago de Chile.

This new member of the renowned Mercedes-Benz O 500 chassis range is a low entry 4x2 chassis model for bodies up to 13.2 metres in length. It has a range of 250 km on a single three-hour plug-in charge. The new generation eO500U chassis is fitted with new NMC3 batteries, the same used in Mercedes-Benz eCitaro buses in Europe; as is much of the driveline components such as steering, electric motors, axles and other items.
