USA / Japan - Japanese tyre manufacturer, Bridgestone Corporation, headquartered in Tokyo, plans to close its commercial vehicle tyre manufacturing plant in LaVergne, in the US state of Tennessee, later this year as part of its broader strategy to “optimize the company’s business footprint, strengthen its competitiveness and enhance the quality of the US operations.”

The LaVergne facility, which produces radial tyres for trucks and buses, was built in 1971 and currently employs around 700 hourly workers and staff. The company’s US subsidiary, Bridgestone Americas Inc, confirmed that the plant will cease operations at the end of July 2025. The company also plans to reduce capacity and the workforce at its Des Moines agriculture tyre plant in Iowa this year.
