Japan - Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC), headquartered in Kawasaki City in Japan’s Kanagawa Prefecture, is collaborating with Connexx Systems Corporation to develop second-life solutions for eCanter light truck batteries. Kyoto-based Connexx Systems is a Japanese company focused on developing next-generation energy storage systems (ESS) and EV charging equipment.
The two companies plan to launch trials in February 2025 to repurpose end-of-life eCanter batteries for use in energy storage systems (ESS). A test facility has been set up at the Muko City Hall in Kyoto, using Connexx “EnePOND” EV chargers to recharge official city electric vehicles (EVs) using end-of-life eCanter batteries. The Connexx EnePOND chargers can charge multiple EVs simultaneously, according to the company.
