Bengaluru – Electric bus and light van builder, Switch Mobility Automotive Ltd of Bengaluru (a subsidiary of Switch Mobility Ltd of Leeds, UK, which is a subsidiary of Ashok Leyland Ltd of Chennai) has unveiled two new iterations of  electric city buses – the EiV12 for the Indian market and the E1 designed for Europe.

The Switch EiV12 - Low Floor is designed for intracity, tarmac, and staff applications. It measures 12,000mm in length, 2,550mm in width, and 3,500mm in height, with a 6,320mm wheelbase and 400mm floor height. The bus seats 39 passengers, plus a driver and a wheelchair, up to 63 standees and 102 passengers overall. It features 295/80 R22.5 tyres and a Permanent Magnet Synchronous AC Motor delivering 235 kW max power and 140 kW continuous power. The bus offers a customizable battery capacity ranging from 180 kWh to 400 kWh+, providing flexibility for diverse operational needs. The Li-ion battery provides a range of 314 km, with a DC Fast Charging, CCS-2 system that fully charges in under 2 hours. It also includes air suspension, CCTV cameras, and an Automatic Passenger Counting System (APC) for safety and efficiency.
