UK / IndiaTurntide Technologies, an electric motor startup based in Sunnyvale, California, USA, made two announcements in January: it will consolidate its primary operations in the northeast of England in a single location, and it will enter the Indian market early this year with a contract manufacturing partner.

The Silicon Valley startup acquired several companies in the Tyne and Wear region of England in 2021: these included battery maker Hyperdrive Innovation Ltd of Sunderland, electric powertrain components company Avid Technology Ltd of Gateshead, and a subsidiary of BorgWarner which is also based in Gateshead.1 Now, Turntide is integrating its operations in the northeast of England into a single engineering campus based in Team Valley, a trading estate in Gateshead. Turntide says it will keep its facilities in Sunderland and Cramlington for additional storage and engineering testing capacity.
