Eaton invests in e-mobility testing in Poland

Eaton’s updated testing facility in Tczew

Poland / USA – Ohio-based power management firm, Eaton Corporation has opened its newly revamped European testing facility in Tczew, Poland, after being upgraded with new testing equipment for BEV powertrain technologies enabling the company to respond to growing demand for electric and hybrid powertrains in Europe. This investment also involved reskilling the Tczew lab workforce on complex e-mobility testing technologies. The Tczew facility complements Eaton’s North American testing centre located in Mashall, Michigan.

The facility now has two new powertrain dynamometers allowing for an extensive range of testing, including: “in-loop powertrain tests, embedded electronics tests, thermal studies, hot and cold environmental tests, power electronics tests as well as hot and cold environment tests”. One powertrain dynamometer is designed to help develop new heavy-duty electric transmission architectures whilst the other is geared towards the light to medium-duty segment. Furthermore, Eaton added a vibration chamber and thermal shock testing facilities which support the testing of its inverters, power connections, power distribution units and DC/DC power converters.
