By Luke Willetts - 24th March 2025

UK – Earlier this year the UK government approved an investment-led package for Greater Manchester's Clean Air Plan, which includes significant funding for electric buses. The UK government committed GBP 86 million to improve air quality in the region, of this amount, GBP 51.1 million is allocated directly towards bus investments, which includes the acquisition of 40 fully electric buses and the necessary charging infrastructure. The remaining funds are designated for 77 lower-emission internal combustion engine buses and local traffic management measures.

This investment is part of Greater Manchester's broader strategy to enhance its public transportation system through the Bee Network, aiming to have 25% of its buses operating as battery-electric vehicles by the end of April 2025.
