DICV introduces automated transmission option for Bharat Benz heavy truck range

Bharat Benz Torqshift tipper range

India – Daimler India Commercial Vehicles Pvt Ltd (DICV), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Daimler Truck AG, has launched the Bharat Benz heavy-duty truck (HDT) range with its globally recognized 12-speed Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) technology. While the popularity of AMT remains low, it is growing in market share and allows Bharat Benz to compete with its fellow domestic producers that already offer products with AMT (Tata Motors, VECV, Mahindra and Ashok Leyland) as well as several importers such as Volvo, Scania and, of course, Daimler Truck’s brand, Mercedes-Benz.

The expanded BharatBenz lineup is now with the 'TorqShift' AMT, adapted from Mercedes-Benz trucks and proven in Daimler heavy-duty vehicles. The TorqShift range is suited to heavy-duty construction, mining, and long-haul operations offering a wide gear ratio selection and higher torque capacity for truck and tractor-trailer combinations of 28-55 tonnes gvw / gcw. DICV states the lightweight alloy housing of the TorqShift improves efficiency, while the elimination of the synchromesh enhances reliability. It adds that the optimized fuel efficiency, extended service intervals, and advanced shifting modes reduce costs and enhance safety. The new TorqShift AMT will feature in the following models 4032T, 5532TS, 5532T, 2832CM, and flagship 3532CM.
