USAMack Trucks Inc, a subsidiary of Volvo based in Greensboro, North Carolina, is now offering a new rear axle and engine configuration with its MD series of trucks, expanding its applications in utility and construction work.

The ‘MD6’ and ‘MD7’ Class 6-7 trucks will now be offered with a heavier rear axle and the Cummins ‘B6.7’ engine, which has a rating of 325 horsepower. The new 23,000-lb axle will be able to carry greater loads: examples given by Mack include rear loaders 11 to 20 yards in length and water trucks holding between 2,000 and 2,500 gallons. Moreover, when paired with the Allison 3000RDS transmission, Mack says the MD trucks will have an increased towing capacity.
